DOMINICAN ACTIVITIES IN ESTONIA<\/h2>

In Tallinn since the 13th century <\/span><\/h3>

1990. In the 1990s, the Dominican Order, or Order of Preachers, experienced a new rise in Eastern Europe \u2013 monasteries that had been nationalized during communist regimes were returned, and young people who felt a calling to join the order found their way to the Dominicans. The Dominicans returned to Tallinn in November 1996. <\/p>

In Tallinn, the brothers settled on the territory of the medieval monastery at 33 M\u00fc\u00fcrivahe Street, where they also organised a chapel. The reconsecrated monastery was dedicated to St Catherine of Siena. In their black cloaks and white robes, the friars once again moved about the Mungahoov, as they had done centuries ago, a sign that even in a rapidly changing world there is timeless value and continuity. <\/p>

Today, the Dominican mission in Tallinn is still active. Two brothers live in the small monastery - Brother Alain Arnould OP from Belgium and Brother Jacek Szpreglewski OP from Poland. Under the guidance of the brothers, there is also a lay Dominican community - a group of lay people who share the spirituality and aims of the Order. The Dominican Mission of Tallinn is part of the French Province of the Order of Preachers. <\/p><\/div><\/div>\n <\/section>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
